"Namaste Thakur sahab, kese hai aap ?"
( Hello thakur ji, How are you ? )
"Namaste pandit ji , hum bohot ache hai , aap kese hai"
( Namaste Pandit-ji, I am doing very well, how are you? )
"Hum bhi thik hai aap ke Krupa se, ajj kal aap ke darshan he nhi hote bohot dino bad dikhe Hai aur thakurain ji bhi nhi dikh Rahi wo nhi ai ajj aap ke sath?" Pandit ji said while looking at the door.
( I am doing well too, thanks to your kindness. I haven't seen you around lately—it’s been quite a while. And I don't see Thakurain-ji either, isn't she with you today? )
"Ajj kal thoda kaam mein vyasth ho gye the iss liye nhi aa paye aur Rahi baat thakurain ke to Unke Bina kese aa Sakte hai hum, wo Bahar Prasad kharid Rahi hain ajj unke ladle bete ka janamdin jo thera" said Thakur Rajveer Singh Rana, he is a well known person in the village because of the power and money he hold. Not just him but his family's past many generations had been in power over this village and few others which came under their control. And the people of the village respect him and his family a lot because they always help the ones in need. Their family is the one who handles everything in the village.
( I’ve been a bit busy with work lately, which is why I couldn't come over. As for Thakurain, how could I possibly come without her? She is out buying *prasad* right now. after all, it is her beloved son's birthday. )
"Kitne varsh ke ho gaye chote Thakur ajj ?" Pandit ji asked
( How old has Chhote Thakur turned today ? )
"18 varsh ka ho gya hai humara beta" said thakurain Neelam Rajveer sing Rana from behind, who just came into the temple and stood beside her husband while giving prasad ke thali to pandit ji.
( Our son has turned 18 )
"Namaste pandit ji" thakurain said while joining her hands
( Greetings )
"Namaste thakurain ji hum aap ka he intazar kar rahe the" pandit ji said and took the prasad from her hand.
( Namaste, Thakurain-ji; we were waiting for you only )
"To ajj chote thakur ke naam ki pooja karni hai ?"
( So, today a puja is to be performed in the name of Chhote Thakur )
"Ji, pandit ji"
( Yes )
"Hume ab suru karna hoga varna muhrat nikal jayega" pandit ji said and started chanting prayers and offering flowers, water and sweets to the god.
( We need to start now, or else the auspicious moment will pass )
The prayers continued for the half an hour and after that pandit ji told them to distribute the sweets.
"Acha pandit ji ab hum bhi chalte hai" said Thakur Shahb while joining his hand.
( Alright, Pandit Ji, we'll be leaving now too )
"Ji Thakur Saha..." pandit ji was saying when he heard his daughter's voice from behind.
( Yes thakur ji )
"Baba..."
( Father )
"Avni tu yha kya kar Rahi hai" pandit ji said turning towards his daughter.
( Avani, what are you doing here? )
"Mujhe pta tha aap Bhul jaoge iss lite mein khud he aa gai yha aap ko lene" said Avni while putting her hands on her hips with an angry expression.
( I knew you would forget, so I came to pick you up myself. )
"Kya bhul gya hu mein btayegi bhi yaa ase he chehra bnakar khadi rahegi ?"
( Are you going to tell me what I’ve forgotten, or just stand there staring blankly? )
"Aap ne vada kiya tha na ke Mujhe bajaar lekar chaloge chudiya dilane ke liye" Avni said with a small pout on her
( You promised to take me to the market to get me bangles, didn't you? )
"Ha to Mujhe yaad hai na mein Abhi buss ghar he aa rha tha" pandit ji tried to convince his daughter but
( I remember - I was just on my way home. )
"Mujhe pta hai aap bhul gye the, agar mein aapko lene nhi aati to aap Shaam Tak ghar nhi aate" Avni said knowing her father's tricks all too well.
( I know you had forgotten, if I hadn't come to pick you up, you wouldn't have made it home until evening )
"Acha thik hai manta hu mein apni galti ab khush"
( Alright, fine, I admit my mistake - happy now? )
Avni was going to say something else when she heard a laugh and that's when she saw the two other people standing behind her baba. And she felt embarrassed after seeing them.
Avni :-
I was going to say something when I heard a laugh and that's when I noticed the people standing behind baba. They look like husband and wife, must be in their 40s. They must be talking to my father about something and i disturbed their conversation with my complaining. The woman is the one laughing and her husband has a smile on his face. What they must be thinking about me, ahhh i feel so embarrassed.
Avni you are so stupid, Tum yha vha dekh nhi sakti kya Bolne se phele Bina soche khai bhi suru ho jati ho. I was again busy in my own world. When the woman now standing in front of me started talking to my father.
"Ye aap ke beti hai pandit ji ?"
( Is this your daughter, Pandit-ji?)
"Ji thakurain, Avni namaste karo Thakur sahab aur thakurain ji ko"
( Yes, Thakurain. Avani, say namaste to Thakur Sahib and Thakurain-ji. )
"Namaste" i did as my father told me to do but i still know nothing about them. Even though they are talking to my father with a smile and they also look kind but there is still something different about them, the clothes they are wearing and everything is different than us. They look rich.
( Greetings )
"Hamesha khush raho beti" they both said together.
( Always be happy, my daughter )
"Pandit ji kha chupa rakha tha aap ne itni pyari beti ko Abhi Tak" thakurain asked
( Pandit-ji, where have you been hiding such a lovely daughter all this time? )
"Are asi koi baat nhi, Avni choti thi jab iski maa Hume chod ke chali gai tab se Avni apni nanny ke sath rethi thi Abhi kuch samay phele he vapis ai hai" after listening to my father their eyes softened more towards me. But i don't like such looks. I don't want to talk about this topic with anyone. At my grandma's house also people used to look at me with pity. Even though my grandma loved me a lot and she never let me feel alone, she always told me to ignore everything but there was still a part in me that felt bad. I was small when maa left me so I don't have much memories with her. Now I thought about it if grandma weren't with me, i would have felt lonely.
( Oh, it's nothing like that. Avani was very young when her mother left us. she had been living with her grandmother ever since and only returned a short while ago. )
"Avni aap kitne saal ke ho beta ?" She asked me with a smile completely changing the topic about my mother and I am very grateful for that.
( Avani, how old are you, dear? )
"Mein 16 saal ke hu thakurain ji"
( I am 16 years old, Thakurain-ji. )
"Aur aap ne padhai ke hai ?"
( And what about your education? )
"Ji jyaada to nahi par Mujhe padhna aur likhna aata hai, mujhe khaniya padhna pasand hai"
( Well, not too much, but I do know how to read and write. I enjoy reading stories. )
"Are waah, Mujhe aap ke beti bohot pasand aai pandit ji sunder bhi aur samjhdar bhi"
( Oh wow, I really liked your daughter, Pandit-ji. she is both beautiful and sensible. )
